Nic & Ed 2018

We are very happy to feature Nicola and Ed’s wedding hosted at Park Farm on 25th July 2018. Their photographer, Simon Hanagarth has perfectly captured a very chilled, relaxed day which is exactly the vibe Nic and Ed were looking for. Being sheep farmers themselves, they were looking for a venue that felt like home from home! Their blessing took place at Upper Shuckburgh Church, just a few fields away on the Shuckburgh estate.

“What can I say about Park Farm that you won’t see when you go to visit? We fell in love with it just driving in. It’s great! We used Park Farm for our wedding this year and it was PERFECT. The setting, the atmosphere, the location … it was all idyllic. Jill and Tim were very professional and accommodating with our requests but also relaxed when planning and finalising all the wedding arrangements. Nothing was ever too difficult to organise and Jill even has a list of ‘props’ available, which saves the hassle (and expense) of having to buy items to make the venue more personalised. Being sheep farmers ourselves meant that having a rustic, country wedding was exactly what we wanted and being on a working farm ticked all the boxes for both me and my now husband.

The venue itself is great for parties of all sizes. There is so much space and so many hidden areas, allowing guests to relax and spread out, even allow them to have some down time because not everyone wants to be surrounded by guests they may not know all day. So having the main ‘Cart Shed’ with the marque for the wedding breakfast, bar and dance floor meant that the lambing shed could be used for a ‘chill out’ area with comfy sofas, tables and a wood burning stove (not that we needed it as it was summer and HOT but it would be there if a winter event was taking place). We used this area for our guest book and for serving hot drinks. Then there was the outdoor space… Again, being on a farm meant there was so much freedom to take a pleasant stroll down the drive to admire the livestock. There was also an area opposite the Cart Shed allowing guests to play lawn games, or chill out on hay bales with a glass of fizz. Just perfect. The ‘secret’ flower garden provided further space and a great place for photos. So even with 100 guests, we never felt cramped or hemmed in. Just to complete the features of the venue, the fire pit and swinging love seat were like a magnet at our wedding for the guests and made for some stunning photos. It really added to the atmosphere, especially when it got dark. As I said, it was just the perfect venue!!

Then there’s the accommodation. There are 2 rooms inside the house, which we used for parents, then there’s the Shepherd Hut for the bride and groom (if that’s your kind of thing) which is both romantic and a great place to get away from all the guests to have some time for just the two of you. Being sheep farmers we thought it was fantastic.

Thanks again to Jill and Tim for making our day so magical. We loved Park Farm and the little additions, like lace bows on the trees and hessian saves over plant pots really added to the rustic, country theme. I can’t wait to come back and revisit, and who knows… We may even have to come back in 10 years or so to relive our perfect day with another big party!! X”
